Fresh Food Generation
2019
Culinary Community Champion Award
On Behalf of The Readable Feast and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation, we salute Fresh Food Generation with our 2019 Culinary Community Champion Award, for their wide-ranging and effective work in harnessing the power of food and community.
Fresh Food Generation uses ingredients bought from local farms in the Boston area for their café and catering service, which helps support a food truck that delivers fresh nutritious food into low-income neighborhoods. They cook and deliver nutritious meals that reflect Caribbean and Latin American cuisines. Cassandria Campbell, co-owner, grew up in Roxbury and developed the food truck idea when she saw a boy coming out of a fast-food restaurant who was barely able to walk because he was overweight. She realized after looking up and down the street, there weren’t any better alternatives.
Fresh Food Generation’s catering business, with the help of Cassandria’s business partner Jackson Renshaw, is committed to serving on-the-go real foods. They are a green company committed to using compostable or recyclable plates, cutlery, cups. They pride themselves on supporting local farmers and believe in sourcing sustainably raised food and building a better food system. They prepare delicious meals, with quality and seasonal ingredients all from local farmers and businesses.
