Lifetime Achievement Culinary Icon Award

 

Barbara Haber is an award winning popular speaker and writer on the history of food. As a Curator of Books at the Schlesinger Library at Harvard University’s Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, she developed a major culinary collection and is widely credited with making food history a topic of serious academic research and publication. For her many contributions to the study of food, she was inducted into the James Beard Foundation’s Who’s Who in American Food and Beverages, and received the prestigious M.F.K Fisher Award from Les Dames D'Escoffier.

In the 2005 Food Issue of the New Yorker, Barbara Haber was praised for having “invented the history of women and food.” She has been seen on Today, Martha Stewart Living and other TV programs and interviewed in such publications as Newsweek, the New York Times and Bon Appetit She contributed a monthly column to Zester Daily (www.zesterdaily.com), a website devoted to the culture of food and drink, and has been serving recently as a food history lecturer on transatlantic voyages of the Queen Mary 2.
